First time I’ve heard this. Just about any and everything Getz did was a tour de force of his incredible chops. Good stuff!

Boring facts you probably know already: Original composition 1960 by Lalo Schifrin (who also did the soundtrack for Boulevard nights) and Gale Garnett. ST is track 5 on the 1978 jazz funk album Children of the Night, probably to coincide with the release of the film. Lalo was album arranger, sharing p/kb duties with Andy LaVerne. That 70’s jazz funk sound rocks big time for me!

Just listened to George Benson vocal, recorded for Boulevard Nights movie 1979 – also very good! I found the SG version on a compilation album, significant find as it got me into jazz!
