I dont think its as much the voltage as technique its very easy to start using a magnum like a paintbrush but you must remember to keep the needle to the skin and work the ink in to out for the shade. Also try slowing it down a little i found at first I was to quick out of the shade and therefore having to go back over areas potentially causing more trauma, Commit to the shade and make it count first time.

@Thrashslashedmashedp Surely coining a word is worse than a little bad grammar and absence of punctuation? I assumed, since you were slaughtering someone for sentence structure, spellings would be just as important to you…

And slaps can’t be condescending, they’re just mean!

@ronnygriffin The word there was grammar, no? *Condescending slap on the back*

Get a grip of your moronic life. If you are a tattoo artist yourself, learn grammar. I sure as fuck would not be inked on by an illiterate. Good day sir, have fun trying to order you’re stock when you probabally donno what half of it says.

    @gadigadigadigadi

I found that turning up the volts a bit and using a sweeping motion rather than small circles like a round shader gets me better results with the mags.

@Jeeperrandy yo man i m having problems with mag too for some reason the ink has a hard time comin out. i did one tattoo and it came fine with 7 mag but then it wont work another time..i was wondering if u figured out how because i been doing the same thing as u. playin with the voltage…

I love it how so many scratchers are on here trying to teach wrong techniques..

  15. comment number 15 by: QUINNTHEPOTHEAD

@lilshouty14 is ink blowouts where the ink runs or bleeds under the skin…coming from main outlines?

  16. comment number 16 by: casetrls

voltage depends on the coil size ur running.but the dime and nic for the gap is pretty much rule of thumb.i use bigger needles most of the time so i use a 12 to 14 wrap for my shader.and standard 10 for liner.

  17. comment number 17 by: XxViolentByDesignxX

It’s all personal preference as for needle/tip depth. There are no rules.

  18. comment number 18 by: voltron4666

the needle suppose to be lik 1/16 of inch out of tube after u push down the amture bar when puting needle bar in tube .

  19. comment number 19 by: Jeeperrandy

Man, that makes perfect sense. I have been lengthening the gap, but turning the volts down and I am definitly having problems shading/coloring with shaders and mags.

it´s so fun to look at videos when they really think they know what they are doing!!!

  21. comment number 21 by: zeffman99

@drlopezins not lower..slower..shading and color machines have more needles so as not to munch the skin up it has to run slower..now because there are more needles the machine needs to hit harder meaning more vaults=higher, not speed, vaults..ya hearin me??

  22. comment number 22 by: jacechasin68

I NVRuse my machines higher than my digi display of 7.5 u need tht display for 4 readings”learn tht on ur own”not my place u dont go up to shade u drop done, and also depends on skin types, needles your using, man u wanna know this stuff go to a tattooist n get apprenticed b4 tht draw n paint n trace 12+ hours a day get into the art b4 tasttooing, learnt from The Muse, good luck hoolla back if u need instructing, jace

  23. comment number 23 by: drlopezins

i’ve heard on many videos that when you are shading, the machine should run lower than when lining, yet why’d you mention that for shading it should be higher???? i am not trying to be contridictive, i’m actually trying to learn…. thanks for the advise.
